National Psychology Week April 14-20

This week, Lovell FHCC celebrates Psychology Week by acknowledging the contributions of psychologists to the care of our veteran, military and military family member patients. This is the first time the FHCC is celebrating Psychology Week. The history of psychology is closely intertwined with that of the Department of Veterans Affairs, as the creation and growth of the VA led to a dramatic increase in the need for psychologists to provide care for World War II veterans. VA trains and employs more psychologists than any entity in the United States. The rich training environment has led to recruitment of many psychology trainees. We have 40 psychologists, 7 psychology interns and one post doc psychologist at the FHCC.

Psychologists also play a vital role within the Department of Defense and Lovell FHCC. Active Duty Navy psychologists are military officers who are trained to evaluate and treat the full spectrum of psychological disorders with specialization in military mental health. Military psychologists operate with significant autonomy on a ship and on deployments.

Psychologists at the FHCC provide a range of services and work in clinical, research, educational, and administrative roles. We thank them for their service!
