Ribbon-cutting for new Evanston Vet Center location


NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. – The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center is pleased to announce the relocation of its Evanston Vet Center to a larger location on Howard Street.

Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl will join Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) leadership and Lovell Federal Health Care Center staff at a ribbon-cutting for the expanded Vet Center at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10.

Vet Centers are a special program within the VA that provide readjustment counseling services and transitional assistance to military service members who have served in conflict zones or who have experienced sexual trauma while on military duty. Vet Centers are located in local communities to provide services to Veterans in convenient, stress-free settings. Since the Evanston Vet Center first opened its doors in 1985, the staff has treated more than 9,400 Veterans.
